“You will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand.” Philippians 4:7

    – As we live a life of dependence on the Lord, we can know His peace in our lives.
    – There is something about His peace that we can never fully grasp or understand.
    – It is for this reason that we can know peace even when circumstances look alarming.
    – May you experience His peace right now and may it even surprise you!

PRAYER: Lord, I long to experience and enjoy more of Your peace in my daily life. I cast all of my cares onto You right now and I ask You to fill me with Your peace and joy in Jesus’ Gracious Name. Amen.

    Have a wonderful Wednesday!

“Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.” James 1:2-3 (NIV)

    – Trials/temptations will come to us. We don’t know when the problems will come, how long they will last, how many or what they will be like; but we can be certain that every Christian’s faith will be tested.
    – We may not like trials, we must face up to the reality, that was also true for Jesus; at some point, the world will hate us like it hated Him.
    – The Lord is allowing trials in our life, so that we may learn to trust Him and to overcome the schemes of the Evil One, including our own inclination to give in to temptation.
    – The Lord permits trials so that we can call on His wisdom, and strength to endure, and ultimately to overcome as He did.
    – Every time trial comes, it acts as a test to prove that we are trusting Jesus. Each test that we pass to God’s glory will make us more confident to trust Him when the next test comes.
    – In the same way that the eager student is glad of an opportunity of little tests (to check progress) before the big examination, Christians should consider their trials as an opportunity to excel in applying the grace of God, and to prove His faithfulness.

PRAYER: Dear Lord. Thank You for trusting me enough to allow trials to come into my life. Forgive me for complaining about what You allow. Please help me to rise to the challenge with your wisdom and strength, and not my own. As I face today’s trials, wearing the armour You have provided, please will You fight for me; and enable me to keep standing true to You through the test in Jesus’ Excellent Name. Amen.

    Have a fruitful Friday!

“Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything,” James 1:4

    – At a personal level nothing will be completed without the ability to endure difficulties and persevere until the task is finished.
    – Do not panic when the next problem comes: the Lord is at work making You more like Him.
    – Insolvency and redundancy have their answer in what Christ is doing, as do restructuring and relocating … all common in the business cycle.
    – Professionals who face ethical dilemmas, workers who are accused unfairly and middle management scapegoats are all under immense pressure to give up, panic or (worse still) think up a clever short-term solution, but God’s hand is in it all.
    – God wants to bring out of you the best He is putting into you, because He loves you.
    – Keep on trusting God and see how your faith grows; and be aware that others are watching: may your reaction to problems stimulate the people around you to seek Jesus also.

PRAYER: Dear Lord. Thank You for the challenges you send. Please forgive me for being so short-sighted that I do not see Your hand at work in my circumstances. Please help me to persist when under pressure and to keep going when I feel like giving up – trusting You as my wisdom and depending on You as my strength. As I persevere, please encourage me to be the gospel light to my friends and colleagues, until I see Jesus face to face in His Glorious Name. Amen.

    Have a glorious weekend!

Below is the verses for today’s reading plan of five verses per day.
Genesis 10:11-15 New King James version11 Then God said, “Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb that yields seed, and the fruit tree that yields fruit according to its kind, whose seed is in itself, on the earth”; and it was so. 12 And the earth brought forth grass, the herb that yields seed according to its kind, and the tree that yields fruit, whose seed is in itself according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. 13 So the evening and the morning were the third day.14 Then God said, “Let there be lights in the firmament of the heavens to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs and seasons, and for days and years; 15 and let them be for lights in the firmament of the heavens to give light on the earth”; and it was so.Below is for upload to DEVOTIONAL

“My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires.” James 1:19-20

    – Angry people do not use logic and truth in the context of respect and love.
    – We have two ears and one mouth, so we should be twice as quick to listen as to speak.
    – Sensitive listening is a good antidote to angry speaking; because anger has no interest in the other person, it is just a way of justifying self.
    – Anger cannot build righteousness into our life: and we are fooling ourselves if we think that we are doing God’s will through our anger.
    – The problem stems from failing to listen to God, and not absorbing His Word until it becomes the construction blocks of daily living.
    – Regularly reading the Scriptures will alert us early.

PRAYER: Dear Lord, thank You for Your gentleness towards me, even when I was angry, lonely and lost. Forgive me for my angry outbursts and habits of self-protective hostility towards others. Help me to show Your gracious character towards others so that they too may know that You care for them in Jesus’ Merciful Name. Amen.

    Have a peaceful Wednesday

WHEN YOU FEEL LIKE GIVING UP

“It does not matter how slowly you go so long as you do not stop” – Confucius

The enemy waits and listens for your desperation. When you are at the end of your rope and can no longer see or feel what hope looks like, the enemy of your soul pounces on your confidence, shreds your dreams, and casts a dark shadow of doubt over your life.

The enemy does not want you to be successful. It delights in breaking you down to the point you surrender and exclaim things like, “What was I thinking, I can’t do something like that,” or “There is no way I will ever be able to [fill in the blank].”

When you give up, you give in to the temptation to quit, to surrender, to just stop trying.

There are many reasons why you may choose to give up. You either run out of time, money or energy. Or, you just can’t quite see the results of your efforts.

However, when the urge to quit is at its strongest, this is when success is just a very short distance away.

You can be and do anything you choose in life
The enemy turns up the heat and fuels your irritation with cynicism. The enemy, you see, is that self-limiting tape that plays in your head and tells you that you are not are enough, or you are not worthy to have the things you want and deserve.

You feed the enemy when you listen to the tape and refuse to stop it. Maybe it’s just that you don’t know how, or think you are not allowed to play a new tape in your head.

    You are allowed.

No matter what you were told or learned as a child, you can be and do anything you choose in life. If you want it bad enough, you will achieve your goals and dreams.

How badly do you want it?
One question though: “How badly do you really want it?”

Do you want it so badly you are willing to make adjustments in your life that may be uncomfortable or inconvenient?

Are you willing to get up earlier or go to bad later in order to work on your dream?

Are you willing to work a second job in order to pay for the education you need to accomplish your goals?

Are you willing to keep rolling that rock up the hill, day after day, until your hands are covered with blisters and your back is screaming in agony, but you know one day you will indeed make it up that hill?

Are you willing to walk through the fear that surrounds your comfort zone and into the growth that lives on the other side?

You can defeat the enemy. You are stronger and smarter. The day you decide to give up on whatever it is you are working so hard to accomplish, will be the day before you achieve it , but you would never know it. The enemy of your soul will win – game over.

    You are worthy
    Instead, pick yourself up.

Think about how good it will feel when you cross the finishing line. Think not only about how good it will feel to finally accomplish your goal, but think about how good you are going to feel about yourself for finishing.
When you feel like giving up, this is the time to reach down deep into your soul. Shut off the tape that plays the lie you can’t do it. Replace it with a new tape that states the truth – you are a worthy person and the enemy of your soul has been defeated.
